Abstract


There is imbalance between the allocation of medical resource and health seeking behavior of community residents in China. On one hand, it affects the utilization efficiency of health service; on the other hand, it makes the healthy right and medical demand of community residents can not be satisfied. How to allocate medical resources and induce the health seeking behavior of community residents to be reasonable would become the most urgent problem in the new round of medical reform.Based on the investigation of the health seeking behavior of community residents in Zhenjiang, this paper describes community residents’general healthy condition, medical needs, healthcare utility, the health seeking behavior and its influence factors. Analyze its problems and reason, finding out the solution based on the decision model of health seeking behavior. In order to provide suggestion about how to induce the health seeking behavior of community residents and allocate medical resources in Zhenjiang to be reasonable.The decision model of health seeking behavior shows that the community residents’decisions are influent by output expectation, reference point and other factors. Community residents use their normal state as a reference point to anticipate the result of health seeking behavior based on personal knowledge and experience. The uncertain part of the anticipation is bigger, the fear is stronger, and the other factors’ influence is smaller, then the health seeking behavior will be blinder. On the contrary, if the anticipation is held with a high degree of certainty, community residents will consider economic factors, convenience of health seeking and other factors comprehensively, then their health seeking behavior will be more reasonable.The research indicates that Chronic diseases have become a main influencing factor of community residents’ health; the majority of the community residents with the common diseases or chronic diseases choose the community health service center; the procedure of seeing doctors is the first factor in all influence elements of the common health seeking behavior of community residents; there are different attitudes to serious illness among various age groups; the health care decision making of the community residents are influent by many factors.Some proposals are put forward for problems which found in the research on health seeking behavior of community residents. Provide prevention and control to prevent the young tendency of chronic diseases; expand the advantage of community health service center to make sure common health seeking behavior of community residents will be subsided further; pay more attention to the elements of health seeking process to make community residents "enjoy" the process; provide humanity medical service for different patients; make use of various factors in turn to induce the community residents to make a reasonable health seeking decision.
