Abstract


People in the process of communication, in addition to the use of language means, use non-verbal means. According to the scholars found that non-verbal communication accounts for about 70% of the entire communication process, rather than verbal behavior in cross-cultural communication is playing an important role. Space language is a socio-linguistic human use of space to express ideas and information, is a kind of shape emotions silent language, it belongs to the important part of nonverbal communication, but also the cultural part of the deep structure. The space language not only affects our communication activities, and sometimes even more than words. Passed on the use of space interpretation of the information in different ways, it is often people imperceptible the space language understanding result in cross-cultural communication conflict or failure can not be ignored. Chinese scholars in intercultural communication space linguistics research done less than in the West, In addition, the lack of cultural studies perspective, the lack of case studies and empirical research. This article focuses from a comparative perspective of the East-West cultural analysis and research in spatial language use factors, cultural roots and its unique expression. In this paper, based on Hall space linguistics theory, combined with cross-cultural theory, through the recovery of 100 valid questionnaires were analyzed, and spatial language to use for different occasions personally observed, the use of cross-cultural comparison and quantitative and qualitative research that combines research on the body in the East-West cultural distance, body contact, spatial orientation space linguistic phenomena in the comparison and analysis of the full range of multi-level mining the deep-seated reasons affect spatial language and cultural roots, play a better role in guiding theory of cross-cultural communication. The study found that spatial language rich communicative significance and cultural studies connotation. Their communicative significance is reflected in the non-verbal level, mainly through the field of view of the body away from the concept of spatial orientation manifested. Territory concepts of different aspects of human communication; body away from the concept of spatial orientation limits the type of communicative. A Cultural performance: East-West cultural use of space language there are significant differences, and the differences in the body away from the body touch, treat crowded attitude by the worldview, values, and spatial orientation, and many other reasons. Oriental Heaven's worldview and values ??of collectivism of the Chinese people has a strong gather more emphasis on the maintenance of the populations of privacy in the spatial language; Westerners pursuit of the Western Heaven of the world view and values ??of individualism individual independence, pay more attention to the maintenance of personal privacy in the attitude of space language; the space language use of the Chinese people both subject to the constraints of traditional Chinese culture, but also gradually by Western ideas. In addition, the paper also proposed the use of space language will also be sex, relationships and psychological factors.
