Abstract

Background and purpose: Jiande City, there are a certain number of electroplating enterprises, small scale, backward technology and protective measures lag. Labor mobility, most of the workers are expatriates, the cultural level is low, weak awareness of protection. Often cause serious nose of damage. Therefore, the investigation is to first of all find out the city electroplating workers exposed to chromium pollution, provide the necessary preparations for the next step to take control measures. Second, the workplace air sampling does not accurately reflect the determination of chromium content the individuals suffered chromium pollution, factory and monitoring agencies currently do not have the willingness to purchase individual sampling and funds. Therefore, the proposed method of collecting nasal lavage fluid in nasal lavage Determination of chromium content to reflect the individual suffered chromium pollution. Finally, with the health hazards of hexavalent chromium compounds are widely recognized, people pay more attention to the evaluation of the health risks of exposure to low concentrations of chromium salt workers. And therefore erythrocyte chromium content to reflect the low doses of hexavalent chromium recent contact. Subjects and methods: 36 for the Jiande two electroplating enterprises chromium exposed workers to investigate. The chromium concentration monitoring to take the job site: the chrome job after two hours, workers breathing zone height of 79-4 type dust sampling instrument, double-layer membrane retention sample collection 150L. Samples with diphenyl hydrazine electric colorimetric quantitative determination; epidemiological survey: survey design form, the contents include: name, gender, age, length of service, qualifications, occupational exposure history, smoking history, personal protection such as wearing masks, gloves and other. Production enterprise labor hygiene survey include: the production process, the protective measures; personal occupational health and protection consciousness: such as personal protective equipment, digging the nose habits; the chromium contacts physical examination and nasal chromium determination of the amount of pollution: the latter can use the nasal lavage collected lavage fluid were measured; using the PPD serum syphilis antibodies, sinus CT, the intranasal endoscopic nasal biopsy: to rule out other diseases may cause nasal septum injury; erythrocytes chromium content: reflect the low doses of VI trivalent chromium recent contact with the case. Results: 1 workplace chromium concentration in a short time range of concentrations and time-weighted concentration are in line with national standards, workers outside personnel-based and less educated (secondary and below accounted for 88.9%), poor awareness of protection (94.4% do not wear masks. found) 3,36 respondents nasal septum erosion and 11, accounting for 30.5%; nasal septum ulcers, accounting for 13.9%; nasal septum perforation, accounting for 8.3%. PPD, syphilis antibodies were negative, septal perforation biopsy to exclude specific infection and other diseases. 4, the chromium content in nasal lavage fluid contact group compared with the control group, with statistically significant difference (P lt; 0.05). 5, chromium exposed workers erythrocyte chromium content (average 5.16μg) was significantly higher than normal (0.5 μg). Conclusion: 1, chromium exposed workers more serious nasal septum lesions. 2, nasal lavage may become the individual samplers alternative method. 3, the chromium content of red blood cells may reflect the low doses of hexavalent chromium recent contact.
