Abstract


ObjectivePsoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory dermatosis, and its pathogenesis remains unknown. Resent researches suggested that psoriasis was related with metabolic syndrome:comparing to the psoriasis patients without metabolic syndrome, the psoriasis patients with metabolic syndrome were older and had longer course of disease. Metabolic syndrome is a series of high risk factors of cardiovascular disease, caused by genetic heterogeneity and environmental factor, and the insulin resistance is the core. Adipose tissue can secrete many kinds of bioactive compounds, which called adipokines. Leptin and adiponectin are specificity adipokines, which are important interactive intermediaries between nutritional status and nerve-endocrine-immune system. It regulates the function and cytokine production of T cell mainly by combining with the multiple forms of receptors (OB-R), which exist in various tissues. Adiponectin is a kind of hormone secreted by adipose tissue. It is not only related with fat and insulin resistance, but also has very important function of anti-inflammation and vascular protection. Recent studies have found that many kinds of dematosis diseases are concerned with the change and different content of leptin and its receptors. This experiment investigated the diversity of leptin, leptin receptor and adiponectin in the serum of patients with psoriasis vulgaris, to explore the relations of leptin and adiponectin in the psoriasis vulgaris.MethodsThe serum concentration of leptin, soluble leptin receptor and adiponectin were analyzed by sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique in 48 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and 30 healthy controls. Measurement dates were represented by mean±S.D. (χ±s).The dates were analyzed by t-test and Pearson correlation analysis in software and p value less than 0.05 was considered as statistically significant difference. ResultsSerum soluble leptin receptor and adiponectin levels were significantly lower in patients than healthy controls (p<0.01). The serum leptin concentration of the female were significantly higher than the male (p<0.01). The adiponectin concentration of the male patients were significantly higher than the normal male controls (p<0.01). The soluble leptin receptor concentrations of the female psoriasis patients were significantly lower than the normal female controls (p<0.05). Compared to the normal controls, the soluble leptin receptor and adiponectin concentrations were significantly lower for the patients whose BMI<25 (p<0.01). In addition, the psoriasis area and severity index(PASI) showed positive correlations with the BMI and the leptin/adiponectin ratio (p<0.01, r=0.44; p<0.01, r=0.40, respectively).ConclusionThe changes of serum leptin and adiponectin of the patients of psoriasis vulgaris may be involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
