Abstract


In the first ten years of China western development drive ,Chengyu economic region springs up, which is growing into the forth increase pole after the setting up of the Yangtze Delta and the Zhujiang River Delta and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic Band. The effective and speedy development of Chengyu economic region is base on the long and steady relationship between financial development and economic growth .So, it is practical and important to research the actuality and the relationship of the financial development and economic growth in the Chengyu economic region.Through qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, we analyze the achievement of Chengyu economic region since western development,and compare the economic level of Chengyu economic region with the national average. We find that the Chengyu region still in backwardness of economy. Meanwhile, through the study on the scale and the structure of financial development, we find that although Financial Interrelations Ratio is close to the national average level gradually, but the structure of financial development actually had lagged behind very much.I choose two major indicators to measure economic development and financial development respectively:GDP Per Capita and Financial Interrelations Ratio. Then I use panel data unit root test、the co-integration test、error correction model and granger causality test to analyze the causality relationship between financial development and economic growth according to the economic data in Chengyu region from 1978 to 2008 in both long and short periods. The results show that there exist long and steady relationship between financial development and economic growth. Moreover financial development can promote economic growth, but economic growth has little impact on financial development.Based on the conclusions in the research above, we present certain supportive financial policies and suggestions to improve Chengyu region economy:①On macroscopically:set up regional harmony mechanism and enhance regional finance cooperation. Set up organize harmony mechanism across region ;set up clear distribute mechanism ;set up appraise prompting mechanism; set up clear behavior restrict mechanism.②On microcosmic:expedite the development of finance industry, perfect finance development system. Solidify and strong traditional finance industry;speed the development of finance industry;promote new finance industry;set up perfect finance market;speed the development of finance match industry; set up credit appraise system;strong innovation of the finance production and service;speed the development of finance education industry;boost up finance radiate power in local.
