Abstract

Objective To investigate the unilateral third molar elongation of the structure and function of the temporomandibular joint . Were collected 50 patients with unilateral maxillary third molar elongation as the experimental group 1 , 50 patients with unilateral mandibular third molar elongation as the experimental group 2 ; random sample of 50 cases of third molar elongation patients as a control group . Comprehensive clinical examination of the stomatognathic system of subjects , including whether the temporomandibular joint pain , snapping ; facial muscles without pain and spasm; observe the record of the patient's jaw movements from different angles ; take study mode . At the same time shooting temporomandibular joints the cusp staggered bit the Hsueh -bit chip , fixed-point measurement bilateral temporomandibular joint space , and calculate the position of the condyle in the glenoid fossa , the use of statistical methods to analyze the results of the experimental and control groups . 1 , experimental groups on both sides of the gap except 30 ° and 150 ° , other differences were statistically significant (P lt; 0.05); experimental group 2, 90 ° and 120 ° difference was statistically significant (P lt; 0.05 ). The proportion of bits 2 , experimental group 1 unstretched side condyle suddenly is located in the horizontal direction with the control group, the difference was statistically significant ( P lt; 0.05 ) . 3 , two experimental groups occlusal interference ratio and group 1 masticatory muscle and joint area pain , temporomandibular joint snapping abnormal proportion of open type control group , the difference had statistical significance ( P lt ; 0.05 ). Conclusion Unilateral third molar elongation can change the type of jaw movement , resulting in changes in the temporomandibular joint space and condylar shift and even cause joint pain , the snapping dysfunction , and thus have an impact on the structure and function of the temporomandibular joint . Which unilateral maxillary third molar elongation obvious effect on the structure and function of the temporomandibular joint .
