Abstract


Objective: Radiation treatment with once weekly paclitaxel 60mg with chemotherapy for patients with esophageal cancer , the efficacy and toxicity of observation and treatment , and evaluation of the feasibility of this treatment for patients with esophageal cancer . Materials and Methods : Hospital Radiation Oncology in December 2000 - 2003 May 67 cases of esophageal cancer patients , esophagoscopy biopsy are squamous cell carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups: radiotherapy alone group ( radiotherapy alone group , RT group ) and radiation therapy with concurrent chemotherapy group ( chemotherapy group , CRT group) . Single group, 33 cases , the use of conventional designed field radiotherapy , DT 60-66 Gy ; chemotherapy group and 34 cases , radiotherapy method and dose with radiotherapy alone group , chemotherapy with paclitaxel 60mg weekly synchronization scheme . Term evaluation after the end of radiotherapy , X-ray diagnostic criteria adopted in the 1981 Third National Radiation Conference ( Zhengzhou ) treatment group by radiotherapy . Toxicity WHO and RTOG criteria , evaluation of treatment tolerability . Both groups were followed for 2 years . Application SPSS12.0 statistical software for statistical analysis. The result : a local term efficacy of radiotherapy and chemotherapy group better than radiotherapy alone group , the two groups have a significant difference ( P lt; 0.05 ) . To put chemotherapy with radiotherapy alone group and 2-year survival rate , radiotherapy alone group was 51.5% ( 17 / 33 ) , 33.3% ( 11 / 33 ) , synchronous discharge of 75.8% ( 25 / 33 ), 57.6% ( 19 / 33 ) . The difference between the two groups was significant ( P lt; 0.05 ) . Conclusion: paclitaxel 60mg week concurrent radiotherapy is superior to radiotherapy alone can improve esophageal term efficacy and 1 - and 2-year survival rate . Toxicity may be tolerated , and worthy of further study .
