Abstract


What is the nature of literature? This question, of which no consensus has been achieved, is a live topic among the theorists, artists and writers in both modern and ancient times, in both China and elsewhere. However, themes as“characteristics and functions of literature”,“inheritance and development of literature”,“appreciation and criticism of literature”and“times, life style and the people”requires proper answers to the question about its nature. And this is also for the sake of prosperity and progress in the development of literature, for a better future of our socialist literature. Disregarding the dust and din of dilute and dispel ideology, Tan Haozhe kept to the orientation of Marxist nature theory of literature and art ideology and explored in depth. He made a great progress in figuring out the nature of literature.Tan Haozhe made his contributions to nature theory of literature and art ideology in the following four respects: first, he searched into the concert of ideology and interpreted its development thoroughly; second, he identified the nature theory of literature and interpreted its meaning; third, analyzed the relationships among the aesthetics, the cognitive and the cultural aspect; forth, he researched non-ideological method and gave out the origins, the misleading and the way to solve these problems. There are distinctive characteristics in his study: first, dialogism; second, comprehensive analysis.
