Abstract

It is easy to alkali atoms to be excited by laser and it also could create sufficient steam pressure in a glass fluorescence cell for its resonance level. So, there are lots of works about excited energy radiated transmission and transfer collisions of alkali and alkali-buffer gas mixture for years. On the other hand, due to their simple hydrogen-like structure, alkali atoms are convenient subjects for theoretical calculations. All these investigations are important contributions to the general basic understanding of the physical processes in excited atomic systems.this work applied the technique of laser induce fluorescence spectroscopy and the theory of radiation trapping and the method of two-photon absorption, studied the excited energy radiated transmission and the un-reacted energy transfer collisions between excited alkali atoms and gas molecules and their reactions.(1) The effective radiative rates for Rb (5P3/2) resonance level in the presence of Ar or N2 have been determined. For 5P3/2-Ar system the measured fluorescence ratios determined the ratios of the effective radiative rates at different Ar density. These ratios are in agreement with theoretical evaluation. For 5P3/2-N2 system the electronic to vibrational energy transfer has been investigated. The cross sectionσtr=(2.3±0.6)×10-16cm2 has been obtained.(2) The Rb(5D, 7S)+H2→RbH+H photochemical reaction has been studied. We estimated the value of cross sections for collisional energy transfer from Rb(5D) to Rb(7S), from Rb(7S) to Rb(5D) to be(6.9±1.4)×10-17 and(2.1±0.4)×10-16cm2, respectively. The cross sections for reactive collisions Rb(5D)+H2→RbH+H and Rb(7S)+H2→RbH+H are (4.3±1.1)×10-17 and (5.8±1.5)×10-17cm2,respectively. The relative reactivity with H2 for two studied atoms is in an order of Rb(7S)>Rb(5D).
