Abstract


Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is widely used , but its existence toughness poor , poor rheological behavior shortcomings and constraints in the development of the high performance requirements of the field . Methyl methacrylate - butadiene - styrene graft copolymer (MBS) is a commonly used PVC impact modifier . MBS has the typical core - shell structure is closely related to the size of its nuclear and shell composition and performance . To this end , this paper studies the structure and performance of large particle size and add a new component of the MBS blend modified PVC material . Observed by microscopic morphology , impact , tensile test and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), examines the relationship between the mechanical properties of PVC with a large particle size MBS blends and MBS morphology . The results show that adding a small amount of a larger particle size and uniform size MBS-5 will be able to significantly improve the impact strength , good toughening effect , but the tensile strength decreased ; uneven particle size of MBS-4 added compared to the number of copies long time impact strength have greatly improved, and a smaller drop in tensile strength . DMA Blends with the increase in the storage modulus of the MBS content gradually decreased , low temperature glass transition region is moved to the high temperature , the peak of the tan δ is gradually increased , the peak width narrows . Of PVC / MBS system heat resistance , optical properties, and found that the Vicat softening point of the system compared to the pure PVC decreased slightly, but there was little change . PVC/MBS-5 dropped more . Blends transmittance rate increases, the haze value decreased , the obvious impact of the MBS- 5 on the system transmittance . Raw materials by changing its ratio of synthetic MBS resin shell add new components . MBS resin and PVC melt blending , add new components MBS rheological behavior of PVC / MBS , the impact of the performance and dynamic mechanical properties . The results show that the MBS shell of butyl acrylate , butyl methacrylate content is more , the better the processing performance of the system , the higher the impact strength , the storage modulus is lower .
