Abstract

20 years on sexuality education has passed since its first training workshop in Chinese history hold by Liu Dalin in Shanghai in 1985,which was called the issue of sex in modern society.However,a new circle of sexuality education was return to Shanghai again recently.The graduate courses of sexuality such as’HIV Health Social Science’ and ’Homosexual Health Social Sciences’ were set up by School of Public Health in Fudan University at 2001 and 2003 respectively,which won tremendous compliments in and out of campus since that.The purposes of these courses were to help the medical students and staffs understanding sexuality through sex and gender.In this context,by the means of quantitative analysis of the status quo together with the qualitative interview,my research tries to comprehend what are the perceived requirements, apprehended teaching and its affected factors of sexuality education among students,teachers and supervisors,to explore which is the better way to promote the sexuality education and the better pattern of teaching, to provide evidence and experience for the decision-making of government department at certain levels.Main Findings:1.More than half of the students believe that their sexual attitudes are comparatively traditional;most of them are female students.More than half of the male students felt sexual inhibition,which is more distinct than female students.The frequencies of the topic about love are equal between male and female students,but when it comes to sex life the frequencies of emergence among male students are far more than female students.2.More than half of the students consider that love have priority over sex.Almost one third of the students recognize love and sex are supposedly concurrent.For the rest,they figure that the separation of sex from love or sex take precedence of love.Almost one third of students have sex before marriage and the ratios between male and female students are parallel,which is like with other domestic researches.3.On the whole,med students have much more degree of requirement about sexuality education,which means that it is necessary to impart these knowledge.The most necessary to impart are the knowledge of sexual sociology,sexual ethic,sexual action,conception control,and procreating.4.Because of practical applications for individuals,instructive development for the subject and help to against accidents,almost all of the students,teachers and supervisors support the sexuality educations respectively.5.It is necessary to calculate comprehensively five factors such as society,economy,politics,the resources of teachers and the demands of students.The direction of public opinion,financial support and teachers training are crucial to develop sexuality education.6.In terms of understanding the course of sexuality education,teachers emphasize particularly on teaching the knowledge,supervisors pay attention to help students manage the self-protection,students are interested in the concrete skills of sexual action and the methods to conception control.In terms of the manners of school teaching,the teachers and supervisors are used to prelecting unilaterally,but the students expect an atmosphere of interacting freely and friendly.Suggestions1.The government department at all levels should do their best to support the development of sexuality education and promote the scheduling programs of teacher training and teaching materials compiling.It would be an instructive attempt to support some sexuality education in some places where are abundant conditions.2.It would be helpful to alleviate the external pressure and lossless to the knowledge constructing of sex and gender health of med students, if we conduct the sexuality education with healthy knowledge in the terms of guarding against AIDS.3.The context of the course should be emphasized on the cultivating of students’ sociality and be suited with the status quo of sexuality education and students’ demands of health and education.Instead of spoon-feed,we should utilize the patterns of lectures,illustrations or special topics.Students would elect or audit these courses if they are elective.In the course,it would be help to students’ training of social sciences and humanities,if there is enough room for their free participation.
