Objective: To investigate the antihypertensive effect of the Cyathula alcohol extract in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and SHR endothelin (ET) levels . Methods : 40 SHR were randomly divided into five groups : control group , Cyathula alcohol extract physical high- dose group , middle dose group and low dose group , enalapril group , n = 8 . Using tail artery manometry measured before administration and 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks after the administration of systolic blood pressure in SHR , in the eight weeks after the administration , the detection level of endothelin . Data processing of the experimental data using statistical software SPSS13.0 , P <0.05 was considered statistically significant . P <0.01 was considered significant statistically significant. Results: After 8 weeks of treatment , Cyathula alcohol extract of each dose group and enalapril group were significantly reduced blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats , each treatment group and the control group , there were significant differences (P <0.01). After 4 weeks of treatment , according to the enalapril group step down significantly superior to Cyathula groups (P ~ - <0.01), after eight weeks of treatment , Cyathula high dose group and enalapril group no statistically significant difference (P> 0.05), in the low-dose group and enalapril group , there was still a significant difference ( P <0.01 ) . At the same time can reduce the content of ET Cyathula alcohol extract groups . Conclusion: The antihypertensive effect of the Cyathula alcohol extract to reduce the level of ET .
