Abstract


With the development of modern science and technology, science and technology English has gradually developed into an important English style. Since the 1970s, the international scientific English gave great concern to many scholars it specifically. Technology English study early mainly constitute such as vocabulary, grammatical structure, voice, and other surface linguistic phenomenon, this is just a static analysis of the language domain. Accordingly, the traditional technology English translation only pay attention to the word, sentence translation, and focused on three aspects of vocabulary, grammar, and professional content, these theoretical nature has its value, but it is likely to cause the one-sidedness and mechanistic translation. Thus far, the English translation of the status quo of China's science and technology is not capable of another satisfactory. Asked vague, obscure, quite widespread mistranslation omissions. And one very important reason for these problems is the lack of context. Context that the \The late 1960s, with the social linguistics and language with the rise and development of the school, the linguistic circles at home and abroad context has made important progress. Must also not overlook an important role in the context Scientific English translation. But research has rarely been done in this regard. Therefore, this paper attempts to study science and technology English translation from the perspective of context, Context constraints and the role of science and technology English translation as a central issue to be explored. First, the definition of context, history, functions and classification, and then combined with the stylistic features of scientific English translation standards, from the perspective of lexical, syntactic, and discourse analysis of scientific English translation. Context classification based on a number of scholars, authors in considering the characteristics of technical writing, the context is divided into linguistic context and non-linguistic context, the former including vocabulary Context, the syntactic Context and Discourse Context The latter include the social context, professional background, context and cultural context, so as to study the constraints and the role of different factors in the context of scientific English translation. Especially tentative analysis done for the past rarely discussed social context and cultural context. In this paper, in practice and in theory has a certain significance. However, from the point of view of context to explore the English translation of science and technology is a relatively new way, this article is just an attempt, need to practice the test. The authors would like to hope that this article will provide a new perspective in the study of scientific English translation to promote the understanding of the nature of science and technology in English in order to better promote China's foreign science and technology exchange activities.
