Abstract

The finiteness of petroleum resources on the earth and the significance of protection environment have been promoting the research and development of substitute fuel for diesel engine. Ethanol and biodiesel are reproducible fuels which contain oxygen, possessing remarkable environment protection value. So exploring ethanol and biodiesel as substitute fuels applying for the diesel engine has great significance for energy saving and emission reduction.According to Hydrophile-Lipophile Balance theory and emulsification principles, study on the effects of stability and emulsifying efficiency for ethanol-diesel blend fuel has been done while taking single reagent and compound reagents as emulsifier, and CLZ compound emulsifier which was composed of biological oil, castor oil and other reagents was developed. The CLZ compound emulsifier has solved out the stability of E10 system basically at a wide range of temperatures, also having strong emulsifying effects on E15 system, and can make the ethanol-diesel blend fuel keep physical stability long. Also the diesel engine performances were compared when the 2D25 diesel engine was fueled with pure diesel and ethanol-diesel blends. When the engine is fueled with ethanol-diesel blends, the equivalent fuel consumption of ethanol-diesel blends is less than pure diesel, effective thermal efficiency increasing, but the CO emission increases at small load while declining at large load, and NOx emission is less than pure diesel while THC emission is more than pure diesel, the PM emission declining largely. Also the research has been done on the mutual solubility of biodiesel-ethanol-diesel (BED) blends at different temperatures. The results indicate that above 0 centi-degree, when the proportion of biodiesel component is between 25%-55% in BED blends, ethanol and diesel can be dissolved mutually with discretional proportion. And the diesel engine’s economic performance and PM emission performance were compared when the 2D25 diesel engine was fueled with pure diesel and BED blends. When the engine is fueled with BED blends, the equivalent fuel consumption of BED blends is less than pure diesel, effective thermal efficiency increasing, and the equivalent fuel consumption declines largely at big load while declining a bit at small load, the PM emission declining largely than pure diesel, and declines ordinally with, the increasing of oxygen that the BED blends contain..
