Abstract


Since the middle of 1990s, as our country is in the transition stage from planned economy to market economy system, the social economic environment that each family are facing has changed enormously. On the one hand, with the transition of the employment system, working method and the income distribution system, the changing adjustment of industrial structure and economic structure increased the number of job-hopping, laid-off and unemployed people, and this bought employment and work pressure on family members; On the other hand, under the huge changes caused by the social security system, the social undertakings system reform that matched with the economic system reform has brought much pressure to the individuals and families on housing, medical care, education, pension, etc. This kind of changes in system has increased personal degree of dependence on private resources, and it is apparent that family, as the most concentrated organizational settings of private resources, is making great influence on individual development.Currently, our country is in the socialist economic system reform and the key period of social transformation, the small and medium sized cities have gone through a series of dramatic changes in economy, society and culture. The changes happened on the external environment and the structure and function of families had brought an unprecedented pressure to small and medium sized city families. In view of this, based on the theory of social context, by using the sociological research methods of statistical surveys and in-depth interviews, this paper focused on the issues about the family stress on the status, the origin, the cognition and the consequences in Tongchuan, then analyzed the impact of perceived family stress factors, and proposed the coping resources measures to make efforts on alleviating the small families’current pressures and family crisis.
