Abstract


Cross-cultural Pragmatic Failure is a hot topic in recent years, pragmatics and intercultural communication studies . The British linguist Jenny Thomas ( Jenny Thomas ) 1983 in \Since then , scholars have joined the Pragmatic Failure in the ranks , from the cross-cultural communication , pragmatics negative migration , second language acquisition and foreign language teaching Pragmatic Failure fruitful research . Courtesy is an important part of culture , polite language plays a lubricant role in the day-to-day communication , but because of language differences in cultural values ??and different language habits and characteristics , people of different cultural backgrounds in the use and understanding of polite way on varies. Thus socially , often caused by misuse of the polite language , abuse, resulting in cross-cultural politeness Pragmatic Failure . In this thesis, a brief review of the domestic foreign language mistakes in the research literature on the basis of clear the Polite mistakes defined cognitive context , cognitive expectations and idealized cognitive model as the theoretical basis , Polite mistakes in call , greeting, praise , inquiry and apology speech act level and the discourse level of cultural awareness . Cultural cognitive research Polite mistakes reveal the causes of courtesy Pragmatic Failure : the different cognitive looking forward to courtesy , cognitive expect from the people's cognitive context and cognitive mode , these three the level of co-dependency polite Miscarriage unified theoretical framework ; make up for previous studies too much emphasis on the speaker to ignore the lack of obedient people ; also a good explanation of the language polite mistakes and language occasion polite mistakes . Finally, it is pointed out that the lack of this thesis research , and the Pragmatic Failures issues that require further study .
