Abstract


Technological advance in agriculture functions in three forms: agriculture to higher productivity, the quality of agricultural products and improving the diversification of agricultural products. And the raise of agricultural productivity performs as increase in the number of agricultural products and agricultural surplus. These two have different effect on the income of farmers. Increase in the number of agricultural products could reduce the income of the farmers. Agricultural surplus can be divided into residual surplus capital, land and labor surplus. Surplus capital can increase the income of the farmers, but in the present condition of capital scarcity in China, capital surplus is small; the effect of remaining land on the income of farmers to a large extent depends on the arrangement of land system; Surplus labor from the theoretical point of view would increase the income of farmers, but the current severe situation of employment makes it difficult to transfer the surplus of agricultural labor force to other departments. Even shifts, may occur in rural areas "rear children", the intergenerational poverty transfer of farmers.Both from the forms of technical progress and a quantitative analysis of technological progress in agriculture, agricultural technology from 1995-2005 has been progressing continually and rapidly. SPSS used for correlation analysis between technological advances in agriculture, the farmers’income and GDP shows that technological advances in agriculture and GDP was positively correlated but has no obvious correlation with income of the farmers. The rent from technological advances in agriculture not only distributes between producers and consumers but also produces external interest. The quantity of rent for the producers differs from the degree of openness of the market and their own individual differences.Based on theoretical research and empirical analysis, it shows that China’s agricultural technological progress can promote the entire GDP growth However, the farmers can benefit from few. Therefore government needs to grant some more allowance for farmers and take some other measures to promote farmers’income.
