Objective The main purpose of this study is to describe early self-care agency and its influence factors of the permanent colostomy patinents.Methods The descriptive statistics of non-experimental study was performed in the study. The convenience sample consisted of 60 patients from 4 hospitals in Hefei and Bengbu of Anhui. The self-care agency was measured by the exercise of self-care agency scale ( ESCA ), colostomy self-care agency scale, the social support rating scale and the health promotion lifestyle profile. The general data was described by using frequency , percentage, median, mean and standard deviation. The single factor analysis of the self-care agency:the significance of the differences between or among groups was tested by two indepent sample t test,one way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wall, the continuous data was analyzed by Pearson and Spearman correlation. The multiple factors were analyzed by using multiple regression analysis.Results①The self-care agency includes four dimensions. Total scores of self-care agency were 109.97±21.87, low level 3.33%, middle level 63. 34%, high level 33. 33%. That the score of each dimension was in high level was followed: self-esteem 31.66%, self-responsibility 46.67%, self-care knowledge 26.67%, self-care skill 18.33%.②Influence factors of self-care agency( ESCA )included sex , eduction degree ,family income , occupation , complications, postoperative time , social support and health behavior. Influence factors of self-care agency ( Ostomy self-care agency ) included age , sex , eduction degree, family income, occupation, time in hospital, postoperative time, social support and health behavior.③Forming multiple regression equation ( ESCA ) : influence factors of sex , eduction degree , complications and health behavior entered into regression equation. Forming multiple regression equation (Ostomy self-care agency) : influence factors of age , family income ,social support and health behavior entered into regression equation. These influence factors can explanate 23. 1%—68. 7%. Conclusions The self-care agency of patients with colostomy was above the middle level. The colostomy patients were short of knowledge and skill. Influence factors of self-care agency include age, sex, eduction degree, complications , family income , social support and health behavior. The results indicate we should accord to the individual circumstances to develop the plans. We should not only give health knowledge education and train self-care skill but also regulate their self-esteem , strengthen self-responsibility in clinic nursing and community nursing of colostomy patients. So as to enhance the self-care agency of colostomy patients, and improve their quality of life.
