Abstract


YHFT-DSP is the primus 32-bit Digital Signal Processor (DSP) of China with Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) structure and high performance. It has bright application prospect in both military and commercial domain. A handy tool makes a handy man. During the process of expanding the application area of home-made DSP, the development tools supported are indispensable. This paper will focus on resolving the problem of hardware development tools which are DSK board and hardware emulator, and speeding up the development and utilization of YHFT-DSP.The DSK board designed is a commensurately entire DSP system based on YHFT-DSP. It is beneficial for customers to gain acquaintance with YHFT-DSP and make use of it. It also can be used as the preliminary platform for the execution of user program, and provide the customer with reference for devising their own system. According to the requirement of application and debug, YHFT DSK board designed on our own consists of five modules which are emulation, clock, power, External Memory Interface (EMIF) and Multichannel Buffered Serial Port (McBSP). This paper introduce the principle and hardware circuit design of each module in detail, demonstrate the interconnection and intercommunication relationship between DSP chip and every peripheral, and complete the design of Printed Circuit Block (PCB) of the whole system.Furthermore, this paper advances two hardware emulators based on USB2.0 protocol for the in-system debug of YHFT-DSP system. The first one is called HPI emulator, which debugs YHFT-DSP system through accessing the HPI. The other one which is called JTAG emulator accomplishes by boundary scanning. These two emulators are solid on the hardware structure. The only difference is rooted in the USB2.0 software which is exactly the core of this subject.The paper comes up with the testing and proving of the DSK board with HPI emulator in the end. By analyzing the behavior of some specimen program running on the board, it validates that the design is reasonable and the function of the system is sound, and also confirms that HPI emulator is utility. So far, HPI emulator has been brought out the agency of debug in several projects, which achives the anticipant purpose of the design.
