Abstract


PI (products identity) design has been paid increasingly attention by the business community and academia. On the one hand, many companies try to import the products identity strategy for expectations of their value-added products、brand influence and market competitiveness; on the other hand, the theoretical study of products identity has just started. The PI research shows that the theory lags behind design practice. The main content of this paper is the PI manual providing with theory basis and support on practice.The PI manual, as a design guideline and technical support, summarizes the PI elements through the visualized, systematized and standardized expressions. .It enables obtaining optimum results in the process of PI’s execution and continuation. This thesis starts from discussing the origins of PI design. And then, it researches the methods of PI manual according to characteristics of CI (Corporate Identity) manual and product attributes. By analyzing the characteristics of product ideas and design language, the author presents idea identity and language identity as the content of the PI manual. The language identity composes by the language expression, the language norm and the language application.The core of the thesis is to combine the design of construction machinery industry practice with the research of the PI manual. Initially, the elements of products idea identity have been acquired by product styles analysis, corporate culture analysis and user cognize analysis. Secondly, the elements of products language identity have been acquired by form gene analysis, feature line analysis, products differentiation analysis and products idea analysis, and been represented by the theoretical study of product attributes and CI manual. Finally, the PI language application was researched through the possibility of space in cybernetics.Based on the research of PI manual info, this dissertation integrates the PI design project for SANY mixing plant to probe into the PI manual method and content for its operation and application. Thus, this dissertation accomplishes the method of construction and operation of the PI manual for the construction machinery industry.
