Abstract


International conflicts are the products of more intense contradiction among global political entities, and the antagonistic situations resulted from contradicting members?struggle for their own profits or realization of some specific political objectives. With the existence of state, it is impossible to get rid of international conflicts. After the Cold War, International conflicts have taken on some new characteristics and tendencies, and the causes have changed a lot as well, which demand a profound and complete study. This thesis is composed of three parts. The first part includes the definition, tendencies and characteristics of international conflicts. The second part, the core of this thesis, demonstrates systematically and comprehensively the three causes of international conflicts in the Post? Cold War Era, that is, causes important both in the Cold War Era and the Postold War Era, such as state interests and hegemonism, causes which used to be the main ones in the Cold War Era and have gradually become less important in the Postold War Era, like cognitive aspects, and causes which were dormant in the Cold War Era and have become essential in the Postold War Era, such as nationalism and multi-cultural competitions. The last part is on measures which China government should take in the Post-Cold War Era. They are promoting the establishment of efficient institutions to solve international conflicts, enhancing economic development and improving comprehensive national power, dealing with ethnic issues properly and consolidating national unity, and making efforts to solve major internal affairs promptly as well as cautiously.
