Abstract


This thesis studies the economic morphology under China抯 sustainable development strategy (CSDS). Economic morphology is an ambiguous economic concept. This thesis defines economic morphology that it is the sum total of productive forces situation in a certain stage of economic development, and divides economic morphology into three types which are the agricultural economy, the industrial economy and the knowledge economy. So study on the economic morphology under CSDS must be involved into 揝ustainable Development?and 揟he Knowledge-based Economy?which are two hot problems in socioeconomic field recently. It抯 a characteristic of this thesis to probe into development of the knowledge economy in China in view of sustainable development. Sustainable development is human being抯 common aim while a certain economic morphology is just a method to realize this aim. So it抯 more purposive to discuss the problem of the knowledge economy development in China connecting with the problem of sustainable development. In this thesis, study of theories have been done at first, then systems analysis of Chinese practical situation. Finally the problem has been found out, put forward and solved through integration of theory with practice. The theory of sustainable development and the theory of economic morphology indicated that the knowledge economy is an economic morphology of sustainable development, but factor analysis and step VII analysis of Chinese economic development declare that China lacks practical conditions to development the knowledge economy in the round presently. So a dilemma emerges when China in rapid takeoff stage of industrialization selects economic morphology to realize sustainable development. In view of the dilemma met in empirical study, the standard of value, which is suitable for the selection of the economic morphology under CSDS, has been discussed. The standard of value is 揊easibility?and 揂dvanced Potential? with which 搕he Knowledge-oriented Industrial Economy?or 搕he Knowledge Industrial Economy?(ME) for short has been logically set up as a new concept. The knowledge industrial economy, which results from connecting theories of sustainable development and economic morphology with the special condition of China, is an economic morphology with Chinese characteristics. In this thesis, the concept of economic morphology has been put forward clearly, and the standard of value to help choose the economic morphology under CSDS discussed, and the 搕he Knowledge-oriented Industrial Economy?concluded as a new concept. The establishment of KIE抯 concept has certain enlightenment significance to deepen the adjustment of Chinese economic structure, promote two fundamental changes and speed up the course of industrialization. In addition, it抯 a valuable attempt to discuss the knowledge economy with sustainable development so that the scope of the knowledge economy study could be expanded.
