Abstract


Ever outbreak of the financial crisis: the practice of the exchange rate regime in developing countries, on the whole, unsuccessful. To this end, it is necessary to review and summarize the experiences and lessons of the exchange rate regime choice in developing countries. Theoretical discussion on the direction of the exchange rate regime choice. Analysis of the difficulty lies in this regard, there is no one country can be used as a typical developing countries to the discussed issues. It has a wealth of diversity in developing countries, has a different size, economy and political system, openness and a variety of other circumstances. Therefore, it is difficult for developing countries lays out a diversified representation of the general common features, which also means, it is not possible to find the only universally applicable exchange rate system, can not be simply some kind of negative exchange rate system. And the purpose of the different stages of development of individual countries, there are also necessary to adjust the exchange rate regime. Therefore, this article can only be combined with the cases of the issues that should be considered in the choice of exchange rate regime general theoretical analysis, which is trying to establish a theoretical and empirical framework of analysis of exchange rate regime choice. Analysis mainly related to the two at all levels: the first level is the cost of revenue for general comparisons of different exchange rate regimes; second level is the specific situation of developing countries to examine the applicability of the different exchange rate regime. In order to facilitate the analysis of the historical background and current status of the exchange rate regime choice in developing countries, the first chapter of the different historical periods of the economic characteristics of developing countries a rough division and a brief analysis, and on this basis, the effect of different period exchange rate policy and general economic policy coordination. Subsequently, three chapters on the costs and benefits of different exchange rate regimes investigated. Worthy of note is the traditional analysis of this issue is built on the basis of analysis of the theory of floating exchange rate system and the fixed exchange rate system costs and benefits of the controversy caused by 1960s, after the collapse of the Bretton Woods system experience (in particular, the operation of the floating exchange rate) that support the point of view of the floating exchange rate system and opposed to the system point of view (and then moved to support the fixed exchange rate system) is not entirely correct. To this end, this paper on the basis of the traditional view of the Summary, the focus of analysis on the following aspects: use of the existing empirical research to identify the NA point of view; explain the theory of exchange rate volatility under the floating exchange rate system and its policy implications of the study; discussion of the inherent flaws of the fixed exchange rate system. Finally, combined with the developing countries in particular money market and product market conditions discussed the applicability of the different exchange rate regimes in developing countries, and thus describes the general conclusions for the choice of exchange rate regime for developing countries, including China's exchange rate regime choice.
