Objective: A multi-center , randomized controlled clinical research programs to the difference between the electric needle points and ear acupuncture treatment after the earthquake traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and western medicine paroxetine efficacy , and provide a new method for the prevention and treatment of PTSD . Methods: A multi-center randomized controlled trial ( RCT ) , the 138 patients enrolled in the trial were randomly assigned to western medicine paroxetine group (control group) , the electric needle Point and ear acupuncture group (treatment group ) , a total of 12 weeks of treatment . Respectively before and after treatment of the first six weeks of treatment for PTSD the clinical monitoring Scale ( CAPS Scale , ) , Hamilton Depression Rating Scale ( HAMD scale) and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA Scale ) score . Results : the completion of the test well , the balance of group control and treatment groups , baseline in good condition , comparability . The test collected a total of 138 cases , which excluded nine cases , shedding two cases , the completion of 127 cases . After statistical analysis shows that the reduction rate of the CAPS scale before and after treatment , the the HAMD scale and the HAMA scale score differences and different time periods , there were statistically significant ( P lt ; 0.01 ) , but not significantly between the two groups statistically significant difference ( P gt ; 0.05 ) . According to the statistics of side effects and adverse events , treatment group, the incidence of adverse events frequency less than the control group . Conclusion: electric needle points and ear acupuncture treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms of PTSD clinical severity of symptoms of depression , anxiety symptoms improvement , similar efficacy with paroxetine , but fewer adverse events .
