Abstract


Christology is core part of the Christian doctrine. In the Byzantine empire in the 5th century, the archbishop of the church in Constantinople, and Alexander the great in the church bishop Cyril erupted into a dispute about christology. This debate has a theology exchange and debate, more have political interests weigh and battle. Spread to the whole Christian world, touched a nerve of the empire. After Christianity became the state religion, the power is rising, the alternative disputes within the church often broke out. These disputes show concerns about Christianity on the surface, but it is often hidden behind the consideration for the interests of the reality. The politicization of the Christian church in the rising period political interference in the church and the empire led to many complex and chaos of religious conflict. Same dispute, and Cyril christology is in this context there is complex relationship between church and state, and the debate of the process is full of chaotic quarrel. Through the research can to some extent, reveals the reason why there are religious disputes within the church and essence.
