On the Engagement Resources of Literature Reviews in English Academic Articles

Abstract


In recent years, more and more researchers began to focus on the study of academic discourse, such as research papers in the Introduction, summary discussions part. However, the academic literature review study did not receive widespread attention. Studies have shown that academic phenomenon of human interaction between authors and readers. Intervention system as an important part of the appraisal theory of discourse as the way and potential readers negotiation significance. Adopt different strategies in discourse, to predict the response made by the position of the potential readers, in order to achieve the purpose of building harmonious interpersonal relationships between readers. This study used a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate the theory-based, selected 50 papers in SAGEPublications ScienceDirect database corpus, covering English, literature, linguistics, cross-cultural and English for Specific Purposes. Study of the various intervention resources in the framework of the theory of evaluation of the distribution of academic literature review, in order to explore more inclined to use which intervention resources to build relationships and between readers of specific evaluation strategies. The results show that academic authors tend to choose by the words of resources. With self-made resources, by the words of resources to build a space for dialogue between authors and readers. By the words of resources is divided into dialogue tightening resources (prophesying resources and the to deny resources) and dialogue expansion of resources (initiator and attribution resources). Which denied the resources of the average distribution rate is slightly higher than prophesying resources. Denied resources and prophesying resources can limit the space for dialogue between authors and readers, and deny resources than prophesying resources load more people value. Lead to the average distribution of resources is much higher than the vesting resources. Throws resources that can be negotiated for praise or criticism, to expand the space for dialogue between authors and readers. Vesting resources is a reference to the views of other scholars, and that these ideas relevant to this study. The study found that the authors involved in the academic literature review part of the combination of a variety of resources, especially a variety of borrowed words combination of resources. Strategy can help using a different combination of resources of different evaluation function. Accordingly, further literature review of various intervention resources on behalf of the sound are grouped into two categories: the first tone and the second tone. The first tone refers to the contents of the study authors stated in the literature. Second tone refers to the evaluation of literature and attitudes. The literature review in the second tone following evaluation function: Yes, appreciation, it is recommended that, in consultation criticism. Text Construction intervene in the use of resources to enhance the interaction between the discourse authors and readers, and provide a reference for the study of human interaction in the discourse phenomenon.
