Abstract


This thesis is an attempt to analyze the phenomenon of metaphors used in Changing Man within the frameworks of conceptual metaphor theory so as to find out a relatively well-defined and systematic criterion for classifying metaphors and explain their cognitive operating process. Distinct from the traditional views that treat the metaphor as a figurative speech, conceptual metaphor theory views the metaphor as not only a matter of language, but more importantly a kind of common cognitive mechanism and way of thinking. According to this theory, metaphor is the structural mappings from the source domain to the target domain.Analysis of the established long-term conceptual relationship.Analysis of the Changing Man metaphor, by Lakoff the theoretical basis for the guidance. Metaphor in a cognitive perspective. That metaphorical thinking is the cognitive part of the process, in this metaphor of human thinking to conceptualize the world.And applying analytical and inductive methods.The concept of the novel metaphor for the system, in-depth analysis.Through the operation of metaphor interpretation and classification.This thesis is attempt to analyze the phenomenon of metaphors used in active Changing Man within the frameworks of conceptual metaphor theory. find out a relatively well-defined and systematic criterion for classifying metaphors and explain their cognitive operating process.This thesis aims to analyze metaphors in Wang meng’s literary works in light of Lakoff’s conceptual metaphor theory as most of discussionson metaphor outside of the literary area have concentrated on this article. And use the examples confirm the theory.To verify that the Western concept of metaphor on the classification, with the application of the domestic metaphor, Purpose is to make the Changing Man in Metaphor and Lakoff the concept of a fusion between metaphor, using Lakoff’s conceptual metaphor theory, Changing Man metaphor appears, and theory with examples reflected.The whole paper is divided into there chapters. Chapter one introduces the research , like introduce the background and methodology. Chapter two is case study, categorizing metaphorical expressions in Changing Man , According to Lakoff classification of the conceptual metaphor divided into structural metaphor, oritentational metaphor and ontological metaphor. and Changing Man form in the collection of a large number of metaphorical expressions to the analysis, examples of classified order, one by one into the above categories. The third part is conclusion that the value of this study
