Abstract


The euphemistic expression refers not only to the euphemistic words , it is more active use of the language to communicate in a mode of expression . In many cases it can not only hide people do not want to mention or displeasure, disgust and even afraid of the phenomenon , but can also hide the embarrassing loss of face thing , thus become essential language communication lubricants \. Chinese and foreign scholars euphemism for a lot of research . People respectively from the pragmatics , lexicology , sociolinguistics , did a lot of research . However , but no systematic study of the origin of the English euphemism generate motivation and development . This paper attempts to make a systematic study in this regard , to help English learners and lovers , the use of euphemisms to achieve the purpose of communication so that they are able to better cross-cultural communication . The paper is divided into five chapters . Chapter euphemism definition , classification , the point of this article , as well as domestic and foreign euphemism done . The second chapter analyzes the principle and constitute a method of Euphemisms . Euphemisms three principles: distance principle , the comfort principle , principle . The Euphemisms Overall five areas: voice , semantics , pragmatics , syntax and rhetoric . Chapter III describes in detail the origin and the development of English euphemism . English euphemism taboos originated in ancient times , with the development of the historical , social change , change, and update its development followed Gresham's Law and inheritance law . \Chapter IV system to analyze the motives of euphemism . This chapter two ways to analyze the the euphemism motivation : cultural aspects and the pragmatics . Cultural aspects to consider from the five aspects of taboos , traditional moral , social customs , psychological factors , as well as religious ; pragmatic learning aspects of speech act theory , principles of cooperation and politeness principle explained . The fifth chapter is a summary of the full text , and to grasp the significance of Euphemisms in cross-cultural communication and foreign language learning .
