Abstract


Since 1993 China launched the Youth Volunteer Action, as an important force of the volunteers, the volunteers in colleges, have got rapid development on their work and have got a wider recognition and praise of the society. However, as the rapid development, the college student volunteer activities manifest a number of new problems in the continuous development of voluntary services. These problems have become the current bottlenecks that constraint college volunteer activities develop better and faster. We must attach great importance to these problems and analyze them carefully in order to find a solution. In this way, we can protect student volunteer activities and help them develop orderly and healthily.This paper is divided into four parts:Part one:Describe the current status of college student volunteer activities. Student volunteer activities started late in China, but develop rapidly. After these years of development, the current college student volunteer activities attract many college students and they take part in the activities actively. Activities have improved the overall quality of the students, raised the ideological and moral standards and promoted social harmony. The activities are wide, technical and international and they gradually won the care and attention from the government, colleges, and community.Part two:Discuss the main problems that exist in current college student volunteer activities. The volunteer activities have got a better recognition of the society, however, during the actual operation they are still carried out by commercial activities and were intervened by administration. The funding is difficult to obtain protection and there are some publicity problems. Besides, the overall quality is still not high enough and the legal protection is still not perfect. These problems restrict the development of the current college student volunteer activities.Part three:Analyze the reasons of the existing problems in current student volunteer activities. Current college student volunteer activities are not perfect in the organizational system, monitoring system and inadequate incentives. Besides, the traditional administration thinking has some impacts on the management. The training programs are not good and volunteers and the college student volunteer activities have not been fully recognized and haven’t got the full support. The above are all the reasons for the existing problems.Part four:Propose the solutions to the current college student volunteer activities. If we want to achieve sustainable development of the college student volunteer activities, we have to overcome the current problems. In order to solve the problems and promote the volunteer activities develop orderly and healthily, we must pay more attention to the volunteer activities, standardize and improve the management system and legal protection mechanism, use the administrative power correctly. We must support scientific information, guide young students continue to participate in activities and assure the fund of the activities.
