The first part of rosiglitazone treatment of ulcerative colitis research purposes with ulcerative colitis (UC) pathogenesis in-depth study , so that treatment can target more targets and achieve greater progress . NF-κB is a pleiotropic transcription factor involved in the pathogenesis of UC ; studies suggest that a variety of control UC proinflammatory cytokines . Now that the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor PPAR) γ by inhibiting NF-κB activation , reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine transcription and expression , and thus reduced the excessive immune response. Thiazolidinedione (TZD) class of drugs such as rosiglitazone for PPAR γ ligand targets of the PPAR γ, can inhibit macrophage proinflammatory cytokine gene expression. James D etc. rosiglitazone with a 5 - aminosalicylic acid treatment of UC patients obtain clinical or endoscopic remission, but open to small sample test, need further trials. In this study, rosiglitazone treatment of UC patients , observation of clinical , endoscopic , and histological changes in the expression of related factors for PPAR γ ligand treatment of UC preliminary exploration. Methods The subjects in accordance with the 2000 guidelines recommend treatment of inflammatory bowel disease nationwide standards for inclusion in July 2004 - November 2004 at the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, chronic outpatients diagnosed with mild to moderate active UC, and nearly a month not using hormones and immunosuppressive therapy cases were randomly divided into rosiglitazone treatment group and control group . Exclude infectious colitis , intestinal amebiasis ; undiagnosed UC; determined to liver and kidney dysfunction ; recently in January for use hormones or immunosuppressive therapy . Are all included in the informed consent of patients before and after treatment for blood , stool occult blood test plus , liver and kidney function , colonoscopy.
