Objective: To compare rosiglitazone and metformin for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) , insulin resistance ( IR ) , androgen metabolism and leptin levels affect the difference . Methods: 40 cases of PCOS insulin resistance in women were randomly divided into two groups , namely 3 months of treatment with rosiglitazone and metformin was observed before and after treatment , clinical features , blood sex hormone , insulin sensitivity , and leptin levels change . Results: After treatment, fasting insulin levels significantly reduced the rosiglitazone group from 21.62 ± 12.08mlu / l to 9.54 ± 2.68mlu / l , p lt ; 0.01 ; metformin group fell to 13.03 from 18.26 ± 6.22mlu / l the ± 3.47mlu / l , p lt ; 0.01 , the difference between the two groups was significant ( p lt ; 0.01 ) , insulin sensitivity index ( ISI ) were increased in both groups , the difference was significant ( p lt ; 0.01 ) . After treatment, blood LH , LH / FSH ratio , testosterone , androstenedione , dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate , leptin levels were significantly lower ( p lt ; 0.01 ) between the two groups only testosterone , the male ene ketone , leptin difference was significant ( P lt ; 0.05 ) . Sex hormone binding globulin ( SHBG ) were higher ( p lt ; 0.01 ) , there was no significant difference between the two groups . After treatment, menstrual cycles , spontaneous ovulation . Conclusion : PCOS insulin resistance in patients with insulin resistance and leptin and androgen levels , insulin sensitizers can reduce ovarian and adrenal sources of androgen levels, improve leptin resistance ; comparison of the two drugs , rosiglitazone may be more effective reduces insulin levels and improve the metabolic syndrome .
