Abstract

Reference service it is a key vocational work in the library. The nature of reference service solves information inquiry and obtain various kinds of problems met in the course for the patrons, plays a role in helping people to look for the book, help people to look for information. The goal of reference service is mainly offer or recommend relevant documents or document clue to patrons, help them inquire about and obtain necessary document or information, help them know how to use some tools and cultivate their information literacy.Someone points out , digital reference service has desirable places , but not a revolution, in fact, it is cost-effective it may not be worthwhile , because the manpower of the cost and financial resources are very large, and the repayment to the library is limited. So it is important to carry into execution. Especially In China ,the reasons are as following :Traditional reference service have not deep foundation in China, the networked degree of China is inferior to that of foreign countries too, so digital reference service still at primary stage at present, in some respects , such as terms of the network , method of service , service content , service efficiency , service result and even attendants’ level and ability ,etc, compared with some developed countries , still have certain disparity.At present, the popularity of the computer in our country is not high, according to CNNIC’s latest statistical data, up to December 31 2004,Netizen quantity of our country up to 94 million people only, several 41,600,000 online computers, the international outlet bandwidth counts 74429M.In the meantime, showing that it is essential for the traditional reference service to exist of the domestic 100% of library, 85.7% of the informants think so. And think that the proportion of the two coexist is 95% and 100% respectively.In the face of above-mentioned all sorts of current situations, we should have todigital reference service sober understanding. So, what we should do is to combine traditional reference service with the whole system of reference service. Reach reference service desk , telephone , fax , E-mail , latest real-time reference service various kinds of way to the same platform .This articals bases on surveying and studying on the spot, has adopted investigation method of the questionnaire, document analytic approach, interview law, observing etc. make efforts to discuss question and obstacle in the job and to put forward corresponding view and countermeasure on the model of reference service.This article concentrates on two respects mainly. Firstly, current situation analysis of reference service in our library; Secondly, debate some relevant problems in the process of hybrid reference service . The full text is divided into four parts, the content is as follows:Part 1 The General Description of Model of Reference Service in Library Reference service is the most vigorous one in library. It is the most sensitive to the change of the patron’s need. So with the development of society, the progress of technology, the traditional reference service marches toward digital reference service stage. Reference service now stands on the crossroad between traditional and modern services.Part 2 Investigation on Current Situation of Reference service This part bases on questionnaire investigation, come to understand from three angles the development situation of reference service.Part 3 Analysis of the Status Quo of Reference service in Library Through analyzing and summarizing the results of field investigation ,the author makes a conclusion, that general speaking reference service is in transition at present. The traditional one still has vitality and development strength ;digital reference service is at the starting stage. Digital reference service incorporate to reference service system entirely, on the basis of developing good traditional one.Part 4 Implement of Model of Hybrid Reference ServiceIt is the ideal choice of service model in china at present.This part deals with theprinciple, formulation, establishment, service content ^ service organization and service policy of this model.Conclusion :Firstly ,digital reference service is a new choice for patrons, on the day library entity exists ,they will coexist ,not replace, secondly, hybrid reference service are very popular at home and abroad. The model could meet patrons each demand of aspect in a comprehensive way.(6diagrams,7tables)
