H.264/AVC video coding algorithm and its DSP implementation study

H.264/AVC is vigorously develop the study, a new generation of video compression standard adapted to the low bit-rate transmission, it has a higher compression ratio, better IP and Wi-Fi channel adaptability in digital video communication and storage areas to be more widely used. In addition, in recent decades the development of high-speed DSP technology can provide a platform for the realization of complex next-generation video codec system. H.264/AVC video coding algorithm and its DSP video industry research has become a hot and difficult. Key technology in H.264/AVC system, the major work is completed: algorithm research areas: control the JM reference to the code of H.264/AVC rate distortion optimization strategies, intra prediction, interframe size block mode, integer nuclear transformation quantify stream encapsulation part of the in-depth study. Summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the existing methods based on a H.264/AVC fast intra prediction mode decision method based on hybrid features, the method joint feature information on existing prediction mode to pre-screen, thus speeding up the decision-making speed, experiments show that the method can ensure the performance of the coding based on the intra-frame coding time relatively original RDO reduced by nearly 50% of the full search method; proposed a merge split merge ideas H.264/AVC Fast Inter Prediction block mode decision-making method, the method to construct a block merger and block separatist guidelines, and from 8 × 8 size blocks, substitution criteria in turn carry out the judgment, thereby excluding a partial block size mode, experimental results show that, the method phase for the original full search method, able to reduce the inter-frame coding time by nearly 70%, have little effect on the coding performance parameters. DSP research: the study of the development of the principle of the DSP TMS320DM642 EVM DSP code optimization methods. In the VC using DrawDib video function group video display interface, and video communication between the PC and the DSP PCI API function. CCS environment H.264/AVC base layer I frame coding, and DM642 EVM hardware emulation. DSP code for the encoder data type, memory, C language, assembly levels effective optimization method, optimized encoding speed is increased by 4 times. On PC H.264/AVC decoder decodes the encoded code stream file, the test results show that the performance parameter of the codec full compliance with the H.264/AVC standard requirements.
