Abstract


Since the 1980s , the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) drastic reforms . As the world's largest and most influential public broadcasters , the BBC reform is not isolated , but the context of the rapid development and significant pattern adjustment throughout the media industry , in the media wave of privatization sweeping the globe , public TV system suffered a widespread crisis , together with the countries of Western Europe to commercialization based reforms to enhance the competitiveness of the public television . BBC reform motivation , the study 's focus on the results of the BBC 's public system reform and lead to the contradiction problems of analysis on two levels of analysis from the international context and the domestic context . A series of initiatives of the BBC's commercial business strategy , digital strategy , institutional reform , and to strengthen the media service concept , to make up for the lack of public funding sources at the same time , making the BBC occupying a place in the high-end market of digital media , to further enhance the BBC 's international competitiveness and visibility. But the BBC's commercial reform also led to many contradictions problems . Support the huge TV license fees and government funds , the public suspected departure from its business conduct for the purpose of public service and commercial television to condemn the BBC in its unfair competition .
