Abstract


Democracy is regarded as the best political model until now. The election of representatives of people is the key of the realization of democratic politics. The direct election of people’s representatives in grass roots is not only the broadest way but also the tie for people to manage the national affairs, it’s the base of democracy, so if this process is undemocratic, the goal of our democratic political will like the water without source.The election of representatives of people in grass roots became more and more democratic since the declaration of our first electoral law in 1953. However, election is new to china, and was influenced by the culture and political tradition of our history, some undemocratic phenomenon appeared in the practices of representative election in grass roots, it blocked the realization of democracy in china, based on the understanding of this, I choose this topic as the subject of my thesis.Begin with illuminating the relationship between election and democracy , the author analyzed the significance of the perfection of the direct electoral system in grass roots to People ’s Congress system and to our goal of political democracy in the first chapter; In the second chapter, we made an investigation on the democratic progress of our electoral system on grass roots by running back on the history of our election law; Many cases show that there are some undemocratic
