Abstract

Since the 1981 \How to train the learner autonomy became educators and researchers consensus. The learners once mastered self-learning ability, they will be able to acquire new knowledge, learn new technology to meet new challenges, to accept the new task. The illiterate of the future is no longer a no knowledge of the people, but will not learn. English as an international language is increasingly being used. Student Autonomy English urgent and important task. The author of this article is based on the theory of constructivism, middle school English teaching training the necessity and feasibility of autonomous learning ability and how to develop learners' self-learning ability. Discussions on this issue are rare. The social constructivism think knowledge is built by themselves, are not taught by others, but this build occurs in a particular environment, is the result of a social interaction. The social constructivism emphasized that students are fully involved in the learning process. Teachers, students, tasks, and the environment is the four factors that influence each other in the teaching process. Self-learning ability can be cultured? Once the learners to acquire the self-learning ability, whether they can make progress in learning English? In order to make the answer to the above two questions, the author of two classes in the Northwest Normal University High School the experiment, in which a group of experimental class, a group of control classes. The experiments were carried out year experimental tool is a 27-item questionnaire and three examination papers. Nunan (1996) was designed to test the questionnaire on learning styles and learning strategies, the author made the necessary changes. Three examinations papers are designed collectively by the teachers, the same kinds of questions with the college entrance examination questions. The experimental class students received training in learning strategies managed to mobilize the enthusiasm of students, teachers in teaching. Control classmates only accept normal English teaching. The results of the questionnaire and examination results are entered into the computer and statistics with SPSS (10.0). The experimental results are: 1) students 'self-learning ability can be cultured, and self-learning ability of students' English learning; 2) girls are more receptive to training strategies used by teachers and can better use policies; 3) of the boys born in the learning plan, but the boys welcomed the training strategies used by teachers to take; 4) students do not like to use English to communicate both within and outside the class. This article consists of five parts: The first part briefly introduced the definition of self-learning and constructivist theory, and sets out the purpose and significance of this study. The second section briefly summarizes the research on self-learning at home and abroad. The third section discusses the four factors play an important role in the learning process: teachers, students, the task and the environment, and preliminary draw self-learning ability is necessary and feasible conclusion. The fourth section describes the experimental design, the tools used, experimental procedures and methods. The fifth section includes the conclusion of the experiment, the revelation of the teaching and the research inadequacies.
