The mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-41 was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis method using TEOS as silicate materials and CTAB as surfactant in the basic and acidic conditions. It was synthesized that the titanium or zirconium was doped to MCM-41 in the basic conditions. The structure of materials and the synthesis condition were investigated by X-Ray Powder Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) , Thermogravimetric Analysis (TG) and N2 adsorption. We studied the different synthesis mechanism of molecular sieve in the basic and acidic conditions. The catalytic activity of doped MCM-41 catalized octadecanol to the corresponding octadecanoic acid was investigated, the results show that the doped MCM-41 has better catalytic capability. It was synthesized that the assembly of solid superacid into the mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-41 using Ti(SO4)2 for the first time. It has better catalytic activity and selectivity in the reaction of chlorobenzene nitration.
