Abstract

With the rapid development of the economics and construction of China, high architectures emerge to a great number, as a result of which, the frequency of fire on these buildings increases so as to propose a rigid requirement for the fire-fighting and rescue capacity of cities in China. Aerial platform fire truck is special-purpose equipment which comprehends fire-fighting, contingency rescuing, aerial spraying and aerial operation and it plays a more and more important role in urban fire fighting. Accordingly it is of great importance researching the optimal method for the booms so as to reduce the mass of the steel structure and improve the capacity of rescuing and fire fighting. The steel plates are formerly designed to be relatively thin in order to reduce the overall weight of boom and control the cost, whereas buckling could occurs when the pressed plates are too thin. Reinforcing plates are applied for the sake of lightening the mass and the cost while overcoming buckling problem. In practical application designers usually thicken the plates in consideration of safety to control the displacement of boom structure. In accordance of relative research, in the beginning of the increasing the thickness of reinforcing plates, the anti-buckling ability drastically raises. While to some extent, the anti-buckling ability changes indistinctly, which consequently leads to that the structure becomes ponderous and uneconomical. In this thesis, one sector of the boom system is taken as the researched object, the structure of which is modeled by APDL in FEA software ANSYS based on the concept of parametric modeling. Optimization module in ANSYS is applied for determining the dimension of the reinforcing plates by solving the optimization problem. Firstly, the dangerous condition for the structure optimization needs to be analyzed to determine the calculating case in order to reduce the optimization steps so as to improve the efficiency. The location dimension and the thickness are selected as designing parameters, at the same time constraints are adequately considered. The permitted stress, flexibility and the stability are conditional parameters, while the object function is designed to decrease the weight of the boom. The best algorithm which fits the structure of the boom is chosen, which hereby a zero-order optimal method is used to guarantee the result to be excellent.Optimization for structure of the boom program is realized based on APDL provided by ANSYS in the thesis which is verified by a calculating example. A satisfied result is obtained which ensures the strength, stiffness and the stability also the weight of the boom reduces so as to layout the structure more rationally the performance of which is developed. The program could repeat well and it is easy to modify, which provides a reference for similar structure design and optimization in the future.
