BackgroundColorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in digestive system. Now, the incidence of this disease is uptrend, especially in young people. Anus-preserving operation is applied to most patients owing to the stapler, but anastomotic leakage impact the quality of patients’life. So, how to analyze and estimate the related factors about anastomotic leakage after colorectal surgery is a long-term task for all the surgeons.ObjectivesTo explore the risk factors of anastomotic leakage after colorectal surgery. This analysis not only provided the basic necessary for the clinical treatment, but also for the prevention and minimization of anastomotic leakage. The aim of this study is to decrease morbidity and to improve the quality of patients’life.Materials and MethodsClinical data of437patients with colorectal cancer who received colorectal surgery in the department of general surgery in the second affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou university from January2007to January2012were systematic reviewed and clinical analyzed, the information about the cases were collected and set up the database. The clinical factors such as gender, age, obesity, anemia, hypoalbuminemia, preoperative disease, operative time, anastomotic position, tumor diameter and Dukes stage were analysed. Statistics analysis were performed by SPSS13.0software for windows so as to find the relevant risk factors of anastomotic leakage.ResultsStatistics analysis showed that age, anemia, hypoalbuminemia, diabetes and anastomotic position were the main factors which related to the outcome. But the gender, obesity, operative time, tumor diameter and Dukes stage were the factors which had no significant effecton to it.ConclusionsThe interaction of systemic factors, anastomotic local factors, the surgeons’ skills and the equipment are the main factors for the anastomotic leakage. Preoperative preparation should be performed for patients with anemia, hypoalbuminemia and diabetes. Prudent operating, early diagnosis and management for anastomotic leakage are important to improve the quality of patients’life and prognosis.
