Abstract

With the cause of the rapid development of road transport, the mileage of rural road increased.The rate of rural road traffic accidents also on the rise.The phenomenon is particularly evident on the high altitude mountain road. Which led to an important reason for this result is the lack, damage, and laid unreasonable of road traffic safety in most of the high altitude mountainous rural areas. Therefore, it is important to researching on the present situation of the traffic safety in the mountainous rural areas and then proposing the layout method of traffic safety facilities, for the safety of road traffic in the rural highland areas, pro mots their economic development and the social stability.First of all, it had researched on the rural roads in the mountains on the plateau to conduct a preliminary analysis. The research mainly includes the plateau characteristics of mountain terrain, the status of rural roads, traffic safety, the setting of traffic safety facilities, and so on.It was a introduction the situation of Yunnan. And then there was a analysis of the capital level, technical level and policy level.It was an investigation and research into traffic flow characteristics and traffic situation and the two aspects of rural road users for road traffic safety in rural areas of the Plateau Mountain.The second, there was an analyses of the factors of road traffic safety in rural mountainous plateau.The factors aways includs the "human ",the vehicle characteristics,the road conditions and the environment. In this paper, various factors had analyzised,based on the research data, carefully.The third, combined status with the traffic characteristics of rural roads in the Mountain plateau areas.And it was a researching for the traffic safety facilities selection and setting.There was a analysis for the selection and the settings for the Plateau Mountain Highway in rural areas,mainly on traffic signs, markings, sight induced facilities, safety barriers, vibration gear. It proposed a bold innovation to the setting and the full play to the role of the proposed security, Taking into account of the actual roads’ situation in the mountain plateau rural areas. It should be fully considered the local materials, the design low cost and the good safety results, in the safety facilities’setting.And then it recommended a number of traffic safety facilities fit for the rural roads, with great application value.Finally, it was a analysis of the applicability of the traffic safety facilities,which had considered the fitness selection, the implementation and economic effects.There was a safety applicability selected of the highway traffic,had come from the analysis of the effectiveness implementation and the cost benefit.The funding of the paper received from the fund projects "The traffic safety facilities of the roads in the plateau mountainous rural areas" in Yunnan Province,which come from the Graduate Department of Education.
