Abstract


Urban historical geography is an important branch of historical geography.In recent years, it has made a major breakthrough in the depth and width of research and has achieved impressive results. Urban historical geography studies the changes of a city during different historical periods in the perspective of historical geography which is the cornerstone of understanding urban development and changes. Hefei has been set up as a county in Qing dynasty and developed through the Han dynasty, the Tang dynasty, the Ming dynasty and the Qing dynasty until now.It has been an important military stronghold in the-long history of2000years,which is a state government and strategic location. Hefei has experienced many unified wars during the previous feudal dynasties.After several destruction, it has rebuilt several times into a military town.It can be said that the history of Hefei is a history of wars. From the Han dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, Hefei has functioned as a military fortress until the Qing dynasty when it has ushered in nearly three hundred years of peaceful and stable situation.Since then,Hefei has undergone normal development,It has become an important city and developed into the provincial capital in Anhui Province. The development of Hefei has mirrored tremendous economic progress of the entire Jianghuai region in the Qing Dynasty.Research of historical geography of Hefei City can provides important reference for the development of modern Hefei in peaceful environment.Furthermore, studying Hefei’s geography in the Qing Dynasty can help us understand Hefei city’s layout, urban structure, management as the governance of Luzhou prefecture and provides effective historical experience for contemporary construction for Hefei into one of core mega-cities. Moreover, in the research of geography of Hefei,we can look for,protect and plan Hefei’s monuments and cultural relics,learn from experience and lessons from home and abroad so as to better protect monuments and develop Hefei into a modern metropolis. The experience of Hefei can be learned from other cities in Anhui, which plays a "statecraft" role in urban geography.In this paper, the research object is Hefei in the Qing Dynasty,and the study is divided into six parts.The first part is introduction which mainly describes the reason of the topic, the meaning and purpose of the study, research review, research contents and methods.The second part focuses on the history and geography of Hefei in the Qing Dynasty and makes an analysis from two angles:geographic and social factors.The third part focuses on the history of Hefei in the Qing Dynasty and its causes. Changes in the size of Hefei city, the times, manners and reasons of renovation and its reasons are deeply explored.The fourth part centers on the geographical distribution of Hefei city’s space elements such as administration and military, as well as causes and decisive factors of the city’s changes in the Qing Dynasty.The fifth part mainly discusses the Cultural and educational space in Hefei city the Qing dynasty. Its distribution location, the causes and results of its change are narrated in detail. From this point of view, this thesis probes into the general situation and characteristics of the micro layout of Hefei city.The sixth part primarily studies the religion of Hefei County in the Qing dynasty and particularly represents the causes and results of its religious sects, types and changes. By this means, the religious space, distribution and evolution of Hefei County are analyzed deeply.The seventh part is a concise conclusion of this thesis..The innovation of this paper:For the time being, compared to the heated research of other cities, Hefei is paid less attention.Research on the history and geography in Hefei is still in its infancy. From the point of the city’s historical geography, this paper will do a comprehensive study with Hefei County of the Qing dynasty as a topic in order to build the layout,development and evolution of history and geography of Hefei County in the Qing Dynasty with an academic way of historical geography.
