Abstract


The relationship between perception and action has always been discussed from1992to nowadays. In1992, Goodale and David Milner first proposed a functional dissociation between perception and action, based on evidence from neuropsychological patients. From then on, many researchers started to do some studies on this topic. Some of them supported this hypothesis and some argued and gave opposite evidences. With development of the research in this field, the reasons that dissociation between perception and action were studied, and many theories and hypothesis were proposed, such like the "plan-control model""attention orientation hypothesis". However, there are not many studies on the influence of attention, and the existing attention studies always focused on attention effect to perception but not action. Therefore this research mainly pointed to the dissociation between perception and action and explored the effect of attention on this dissociation.In experiment1, the researcher studied the dissociation between perception and action. Different from previous studies, in this study, the Ebbinghaus pictures were colored in the edge of the surrounding round to grasp the attention of participants and during the whole study, participants only saw the stimulates not their hands to avoid the effect of the vision feedback. There were two tasks in the experiment. One was the perception task, and the other was the grasping task. During the experiment, participants were asked to response as quickly as possible. The reaction time (RT), the maximum grip aperture ((MGA) and the peak velocity(PV) were collected in this experiment. Results showed that RT from perception was shorter than grasping RT(p<0.001); perception PV is quicker than grasping PVY(p<0.001);MGA showed that both perception and grasping was influenced by the illusion, and the perception got more illusion effect than grasping(p<0.001).In experiment2, participants could see their motion of their hand to compare with the experiment1with all other same conditions. Results showed no difference from experiment1(p>0.05).Experiment3was based on the previous two studies, and trying to guide participants to attention to the surrounding round. In this experiment, there was one more task:reporting the color what they saw. And the correct answer (CA) was also collected. Results showed that there was no difference between perception CA and grasping CA(p>0.05))and no difference about RT, PV,MGA in experimentl (p>0.05).This research supported the dissociation between perception and action. However there were other new findings.(1) Grasping was also effected by the illusion;(2) Attention is not the reason that cause the dissociation between perception and action.(3) This research didn’t support the "plan-control model"
