Abstract


In everyday interpersonal , communication often have something to say that is not straight , but indirectly through the roundabout way of expressing their ideas , which is made ??by American philosopher Sale indirect speech acts . Indirect speech act upon language researchers propose it caused widespread concern and interest. This article focuses on the perspective of relevance theory explain reasons for the existence of this linguistic phenomenon and how to properly understand it. Sale will be subdivided into indirect speech acts conventional Indirect speech acts and non- conventional Indirect speech acts , including non- conventional Indirect speech acts because of their uncertainty , complexity, and more speculative , and more deserving of our analysis and research. This article from the perspective of relevance theory to analyze non- conventional Indirect speech acts . Research shows that in express - inferential communication process, the information contained in the speaker's intentions and express communicative intention , the hearer is through informative intention ( literally ) to understand the speaker's communicative intent ( hidden meaning ) . Indirect speech act understanding process: the hearer first understand what the literal meaning ( informative intention ) to obtain a secondary discourse speech acts , have the greatest relevance , and when the hearer find such understanding and awareness of the environment in which did not produce full association , they will combine their knowledge , with minimal effort expanded cognitive context , perfect statement of significance. When the hearer 's understanding that the right words in line with their expectations of relevance , they will stop reasoning, to produce the best correlation, the main discourse illocutionary force ( communicative intent ) will be identified. The use of indirect speech acts are prevalent in English listening comprehension , so the process of teaching in English , to help students learn how to correctly understand and analyze the indirect speech acts to improve students' listening comprehension ability of a great role in promoting.
