Abstract

Today, with the development of the economy, we have step into an era of freedom, and we have morefreedom than before. In this new century, people’s requirements for the physical and mental health havereached a much higher level. We are pursuing a higher quality and a healthier life style. P.E., as a gardenfor the relaxing of our bodies and mental health, is keeping people from many diseases positively. So thereare more and more people start to concentrate their attentions on sports. Doing exercise is one of the bestleisure styles for people. It will lead us to a healthy, scientific and modern life style.This study selected the city citizens in Ji Yuan as the study subject. It is to study these citizens’participation of the leisure sports. The author used many kinds of methods, such as literature reviewmethod, questionnaires, interview, statistics, logical analysis and some other methods to carry out thisstudy. The object of this study is to find out the development situation of the leisure sports activities in JiYuan, and also to analyze the factors that aspect citizens’ participation in leisure sports. Finally, the authorwill give some suggestions. The purpose of this study is to give some advice to citizens so that it canenhance citizens’ health, to improve their awareness in doing exercise, to push the development of leisuresports activities in the whole city. The findings of this study are concluded as follows:First, among the city citizens’ leisure sports activities in Ji Yuan, the mainly activities are walking,aerobics, basketball and travel. The teenagers are less positive in these activities than the middle-agedpersons.Second, the mainly motivation of citizens’ participation of leisure sports is to keep healthy. From theresults of this study, citizens are generally satisfied with the equipments in the leisure sports places, butthey have a low frequency in taking part in the leisure sports activities. As a result, there is a situation that the equipments are not used.Third, it is not only the object factor but also the subject factor that aspects citizens’ participation inthe leisure sports activities. For example, exercise and weather are the object factors. And as for the subjectfactors, the lack of the exercise awareness, free time, exercise equipment and the guide in doing exercisestop the city citizens’ from taking part in the leisure sports activities.Fourth, the suggestions of this study are shown as follows: we should enhance the improvement of thetheories about leisure sports, add more found support to the leisure sports from the government, pursue theunion development of the leisure sports and the special tourism, encourage the cultivation of the talentedpersons who are majored in leisure sports, rich the kind of the leisure sports and spread a diversified leisurestyle.
