Abstract


This translation report deals with Chinese Thinking Mode (Chapter Two andChapter Three), a social science monograph written by Professor Wu Chun. In thisbook, the author digs into the mode of Chinese thinking in a systematic way andbrings in the comparison with that of ancient Greece, which betters readers’understanding on the origin, structures characteristics of Chinese thinking. With richtextual materials, classics and historical findings, the two chapters centering on thetwo starting points of thinking, discuss the origin in four aspects including thepsychological proof, the early development, the methods or approaches and the statusin ideology. In the two chapters, the form and evolution of experiential thinking arewell displayed, which is significant to know the way and features of Chinese thinking.Generally, the report is divided into four parts: Part One is anintroduction to the translation report covering the background, significanceand the overall layouts. Part Two consists of the text analysis and the applied theory,so a brief of the author and the main idea of this book will never be excluded. PartThree elaborates the difficulties and methods of translation. Such difficulties as thediversion between cultures, the technical terms in great numbers, the demandingtranslation of lines in classic Chinese and the translation of long sentences evenchallenging to understand will be eased by various methods in specific examples. PartFour falls to the conclusion, including inspirations and lessons from the project aswell as problems to be solved.
