Abstract


The bond market in our country stemmed from last1990s, and it has been expanded gradually since the beginning of21th century. More and more investors participate in the market to look for the most suitable product in the enriched bond market. Therefore researches about the bond market uphold their head. This translation project is about the11th chapter excerpted from Strategic Fixed Income Investing: An Insider’s Perspective on Bond Markets, Analysis, and Portfolio Management. The author introduced us a new strategy “laddered bond”, from which investors can maximize their income in the low-risk and low-income bond market. The new strategy has a great influence on domestic investors and promotes the advancement of our bond market. The source language is informative text tells us the method of how to make use of fixed income to profit in a bond market. This project mainly deals with the difficult and key points during translating and analyzes the comparison between source text and target text.The report is divided into four parts: Part one is the translation project description, including project background, objectives and significance. Part two is the background of the source text, including the main contents, structure and linguistic features of the source text. Part three is about the translation functions, difficulties and methods. Part four concludes with the lessons, implication and unsolved problems in the translation project. As the report reveals, the source text is an informative text. Therefore, the translation is required to be in accordance with the stylistic writing features of the target language and to tell correctly and exactly what the original author says. The structure of the English original text should be adjusted to that of Chinese by adopting flexible and various translation methods. It is hoped that this report offers some referential value for the translation of texts of similar types.
