Abstract


Ethnic culture tourism effect on local residents in many aspects, visitorsbringing goods, opinions and behaviors are represents of them. Local residents wouldnot only adopt advantages of foreign culture but also designedly combined them withtheir own culture. As a result, local residents tried to adapt themselves into adiversified kind of life. My dissertation is aiming to analyze culture adaption ofXijiang Miaos villiage, in the background of the development of ethnic culturetourism, by the methodologies of sociology.I divided my work into6parts. I and II, I first consider the meaning of myresearch, and then draw literature review for previous research about similar topic. Atlast, I introduce basic conceptions of sociology, for instance, cultural change andcultural adaption as well. I, in part III, will illustrate the history of Miaos village, aswell as people’s life, traditional culture and the process of developing travelingindustry. Part IV is more about the tourism effect on Xijian areas. I will considercultural adaption in the view of food, clothes and language, constructions of basiclevel, political institution, faith and aesthetics for deeply. Part V is elaboratepresentation of those adaptions. The first section of part VI is summary of above parts,and then I will discuss the relationship between cultural adaption and ethnic culturetourism, finally I will propose some personal opinions and suggestions.
