The junior high school stage is the key stage of the entire adolescengrowth, this period is the most important time for their sexual maturation.Thecontradiction between the physical maturity and the psychologicalcharacteristics, often make the junior high school students face psychologicalcrisis and the emotional distress which cause the contradiction of variouspsychological development. Therefore, it is important to help the junior highschool students to control negative emotions, and to enable them to get morehealthy personalities by nurturing their emotional management capabilities.The study is based on the theory of effect of emotion management andthe group counseling. I design the emotional management group guidanceprogram on junior high school students. In the group counseling activities, Iadopt group counseling methods and techniques such as cognitiontransfermation, crew interaction, group discussions, experience sharing. Thetarget of this study is the students in two classes in Grade3of amiddle schoolin Ordos. They are devidede into2groups:experimental group and the controlgroup.I make a contrast between the experimental group and the controlgroup.I adopt the method of group guidance intervention to the experimentalgroup,use SCL-90symptom checklist as the research tool,but control grouphave no. The results show that, except somatization paranoid and other threefactors,there is a significant difference among the rest factors in theexperimental group;while the control group in the SCL-90symptomchecklist prior to and after the measurement,there exists no significantdifference among the ten factors.At the beginning of this study, theexperimental group and the control group have no significant difference; whileafter the experiment,there exist a big difference between them in mostfactors,such as depression.The experimental group pre-test and post test of thedifference was significantly higher than that of control group.The experimental results show that the emotion management groupguidance can improve the level of emotional management in junior highschool students while has a positive impact.For example,it can help juniorhigh develop their confidence others; improve emotional experience; handlethe emotional correctly; reduce anxiety and loneliness; enhance emotionalregulation; a reasonable response negative emotions reasonablly; improveenvironmental adaptability and interpersonal skills. The results also show thatthe group guidance improve classroom atmosphere and class cohesion. Theemotion management group guidance can be used as an effective way ofjunior high school mental health education which should be widely applied.
