Research on Spinning Performance of Collagen and PVA Composite Solution

In this paper, the PVA solution was stirred into the collagen aqueous solution to form stabilizing composite solution, and then the AlCl3 was add into the mixed solution as cross linker. The spinning properties of the composite solution were analysis, the optimal wet spinning conditions were obtained by single factor and orthogonal experiments. The Structure and performances of the new fiber were measured after the processing.The results showed that the optimizing process was that the concentration of composite solution was 15%, the ratio of collagen/PVA was 4:6, the cross linker was 4% AlCl3 and the spinning temperature was 70℃.When pH value of coagulation bath was 6.0 and 40℃, the remaining content of protein in the nascent composite fiber reached the highest level. Under the environment of heated dry air of 190℃, the fiber was oriented as 2.5 times to the origin length and fixed for 5 min. The composite fiber had optimal mechanical properties after the heat-treatment. After the acetals treatment, the composite fiber can exist in hot water with 100℃. Accordingly, the composite fiber was endowed with content of protein(33.74%).Finally, The results from DSC and FT-IR analysis showed that there was good compatibility among collagen protein and PVA in the composite fiber. The SEM photos showed that the composite fiber has obviously skin-core and granular porous structure. After all the treatments the composite fiber had 5.59 cN/dtex Breaking strength;17.6% elongation and The crystallization rate is 68.7%.
