Abstract


Study of metaphor has a long history, many related theory. The conceptual metaphor theory is that metaphor is not only a common linguistic phenomenon, is indispensable to human cognitive tools. In fact, many of the words is closely related to the concept of metaphor, metaphor provides a new perspective for English teaching. Vocabulary teaching as an important aspect of English teaching, and gradually become a hot topic in the field of linguistics. However the traditional vocabulary teaching methods are not fully attaches great importance to the cognitive factors on the effect of teaching, let alone on the theory of conceptual metaphor. This paper, by means of experiments, studied the feasibility of the application of conceptual metaphor theory in English vocabulary teaching and effectiveness, so as to explore a more effective than the traditional methods of vocabulary teaching methods. The author through a three-month teaching experiment, the experimental group and control group do the contrast test results, found that conceptual metaphor teaching method in English vocabulary teaching is better than traditional teaching method can play a positive role.
